Anderson v1 pg414 - letter #416

The University Hall, my dear Z[meskall], has been – refused –

I received this news the day before yesterday.  As I have been ill since yesterday I couldn’t come to you to talk things over with you; nor can I come today – Probably all that we can do now is to make sure the Kärntnertor Theatre or the Theater an der Wien and even so, I fancy, for only one concert – If all this fails, we shall have to fall back on the Augarten; but in that case we must certainly give two concerts.  Think this over a bit, my dear fellow, and let me have your opinion – If I am able to go out, the symphonies will perhaps be rehearsed at the Archduke’s tomorrow.  I will let you know this.

                                                                Your friend
